Ocean City, Maryland is located on an Atlantic Ocean barrier island boasting 10 miles of of ocean front public beaches on the eastern shore line of the island. The western shore line of the island is bordered by the waters of Assawoman Bay and Isle of Wight Bay and is a perfect natural harbor for pleasure boats. In fact, there are numerous boating housing communities on the bay side of the island. The Northside Park is maintained by the city and is located on the bay side at 127th Street. It features three ball diamonds, three paved and measured jogging trails, a childrens playground and a picnic pavillion complete with a barbecue grill.
The three paved jogging trails are perfect for inline skating - the three trails are 1/2, 3/4 and 1 mile in length.
Actually the mile long trail is the shortest trail that I would want to skate on but for beginners the other two are
a comfortable length.
The asphalt is smooth and very flat. You won't get a very good work-out from too many hills because there just
aren't any. A good work out here will require a steady fast pace two or three times around the track.
While skating, your view of the surrounding scenery is breath taking.
The trails border the bay
waters which are lined with tropical vegatation meticulously maintained to perfection by the
park ground keepers.
Inline skaters who have children to watch after, may conveniently have them play at the playground using the swings and sliding boards. They would be easy to keep track of while you skate as the playground is easy to get to from the trails and is rarely out of site.
All in all, while vacationing in Ocean City, this park is a fine place to visit for not only inline skating but a variety of recreational acitivites.
